I did this sketch right after coming home from work. I was so determined and motivated to get to it even though I had no idea what I was going to sketch. I did a little self reflection today and began to feel a little more grateful for what I have and what I'm doing now. I'm so glad I found myself now without wasting away my 20's. I see girls everyday who have said countless times they've been miserable with their jobs and never really found or allowed themselves the chance to do what they love when they were younger. I hear the usual, "if / when I was your age" speech all the time. But luckily for me, I've finally figured out how to really extend myself in my fashion career right now and avoid the self loathing speech of my own at the mere age of 24! :) And I'm just so happy this has occupied me so much and opened up different opportunities that I've enjoyed doing so far.
So today, because I had no plan on what my next design would be, I wanted to show how I quickly came up with one! It started out with a fashion editorial photo I browsed through online. The first thing I think about before starting out my doll is the look and pose I'm going to use. I decided to use this model as well as the bodysuit she wears. Usually I use up to three or four different photos to decide the style of my doll; from the hair, make-up, to the accessories. In this case, I just needed a simple one, and this was perfect for me to use as the entire look :)
The next thing I look for are key accessories or design ideas to incorporate into the outfit. From this picture, I wanted to use this corset belt on my doll! :) Then the next step is the fun and creative part which is to play with colors and prints of the design <3
Lastly, I look for great scenic backgrounds or clips of magazine articles to make my doll pop in her look! I decided to use a picture of the Eiffel Tower because it's definitely a place I'd love to visit one day. Another reason is because of what my mood was about today; I felt like I've conquered a lot these past couple of months and that I've become a stronger person -emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. I guess that's probably why the body language of my doll is using somewhat of a superhero stance also standing in front of a historic monument and claiming the world, lol!
I'm going to start doing a little something different now by adding a summary of my week as I usually post up to only two times per week :) This way you can see what else I've been up to and any inspiration that leads me to my next blog post! This week has been largely focused on food obviously as my cravings for scrumptious desserts was high. I've grabbed this all from my Instagram. You can follow me here @stephaniesurtida!
My favorite pic from my summary of the week is this comic I made of myself from an iPhone App I discovered! It looks super cool and I feel like I'm going to be obsessed with it for a while!
I hope you guys enjoyed today's fashion doll! Thank you all for being my driving motivation :D
