fashionista tin box
If you didn't already know, my style of illustrating has multiple personalities. They change in size, medium, and character. Sometimes it's frustrating because it's inconsistent with the rest of my work, but then again I love that I'm flexible with my artwork because I discover new tricks and strategies as I continue to explore my style of illustrating. At the end of the day, I only share work that I'm proud of and love! Instead of taping these little fashion bloggers back into my sketchbook, I decided to stash them in my empty organic peppermint tin box. And how cute is this?! I can't wait to fill it up with more!
I typically draw four of my favorite outfits of each fashion blogger. Today's muse is Willabelle of Pale Division. Her style is very classy, and she's such a doll. I love her play with pastel colors. She also takes amazing and mouth drooling photos of food. I can't handle it.

muse: Christina Caradona
Christina of Trop Rouge instantly became an Instagram favorite of mine... First of all, I love her hair. If I wanted to keep my hair that short I would consider getting a perm to look exactly like hers! She's too cute. And I adore her style. Follow @troprouge !

role model + muse: garance dore
When I started this blog 2 years ago, Garance was the only fashion illustrator I admired and looked up to. It was her success story of becoming a fashion illustrator and professional photographer that drove me further into my passion.. Garance never went to school to learn how to sketch, she was self taught. That alone was enough to keep me going because 2 years ago, I sucked! Lol. Even though I took fashion illustration classes at FIDM, I was still drawing stiff and unbalanced women. It was frustrating and tiring. But I remained consistent with my blogging and illustrating in hopes to improve and change that.
When I took a whole year off from working last year to do some soul searching, I studied different styles of illustrations from other artists and practiced sketching every single day. I would spam my friends' and followers' feed on Instagram with my daily illustrations looking for positive feedback but it was a hit and miss each time. I couldn't find my own unique style for the life of me so I would always copy Garance's and my other favorite illustrators as well. Garance was always my number one favorite artist to try and emulate, but then I realized I could never achieve the quality of work that she does or any other artist. I've had to adapt to what I knew now and could do, and work with what I've got. Doing so has eventually helped me come out with my own unique style of illustrating! And it's never felt so right to make it my own.. I've even named it! - Intuitive illustrating :) ..
I'm even more in love and proud of my work now. And at this point I don't look to my role model for help anymore! However, Garance will always be my hero and her work will never fail to inspire me.
Thank you for being true to you Garance! You are an inspiration.. I always look forward to more creations by you! <3

muse: Wendy Nguyen
Today's tiny fashion muse is Wendy Nguyen! After last week's fun idea, I wanted to continue doing more cut outs of my illustrations.. Sometime last week I just pictured hanging my little sketches on the tiny clothespins I got myself from the Dollar Tree store last year, lol. I purchased these little clothespins on impulse because they were so cute! But didn't know what I would do with them. That's my problem.. I just buy cute things on impulse when I don't have any use for them. But I do now that I've shrunken my illustrations to like 1 1/2"-2" lol.
Happy Sunday!

the Naked 3 experimento
Happy Weekend everyone!!
I woke up this morning with this wild idea to color my little illustrations using Urban Decay's Naked3 palette. I love the way it turned out, but maybe the next time I use make-up as my medium I'll use colors that pop! I totally forgot how subtle the Naked3 palette was, lol. I love this brand anyhow. They have the best metallic colors.
The muse I used {in this little made up project I did for myself} is Cosette Munch of crackcosette.com. I felt her outfits worked perfectly with the Naked3 aesthetic.. And I also like her simple and graceful poses!
This was super fun to do overall.. Did you catch my process on my instagram? :)

muse: Alix
This parisienne girl is my new favorite fashion blogger. I find myself more attracted to fashion bloggers who a.) has a unique personalized and chic sense of style, and b.) can pose elegantly & have fun! I've found a lot of the popular fashion bloggers to be stiff, and are afraid of movement. And to me, that doesn't make their outfits look great. I just love Alix's looks and photos! Check her out here!

muse: emma
In last week's fashion blogger study, my pick of the week goes to Emma from A Beautiful Mess. I'm such a big fan of her and her sister's blog. They are ultimate blogger queens! They combine DIY fashion, crafts, and cook yummy goodies all on their blog. They're extremely creative.. and that's what I love about them. They are definitely role models of mine. I love their fashion mixology concept. They take 8 pieces of clothing and create 8 different looks. I mean, I don't know about you, but since I've started working, I've been finding it kinda hard to pick out my wardrobe every day and every week. And I find myself repeating my outfits... ughh I hate that! But then again, I did just get complimented today and was told I dress well.. :) I guess I'm looking for a way to make my style a little more interesting.. and different than yesterdays look! Anyway, last week I drew up quick sketches of mini muses dedicated to Emma in my little notebook! I usually do most of my sketches at my desk at work during my lunch break. I know some people hate having lunch at their desks, but if I'm there sketching, then I zone out completely :).

My first video.. it was fun! I'm thinking of doing more.. maybe starting a Vimeo account to show my work process. I don't know, still thinking about it! I have too much sh*t to keep up with lol. But we shall see!
My muse for this sketch is Jenny Walton, whom I consider to be today's Audrey Hepburn. <3

respect! A fearless woman. A woman who isn't afraid to show her true vibrant colors to our black and white world. I love her style, her personality, and especially her doll-inspired make-up ;]

Muse: Mia Farrow
Rosemary's Baby starring Mia Farrow, is one of my all-time favorite horror films that I love to watch over and over again. And it's not because of the story, but it's because of how cute Mia Farrow is in the movie! Lol.. She is the perfect style muse. I decided to use Ro in this illustration because it closely resembles her characteristics. Especially towards the end of the movie where they show Mia's body thinning dramatically and the dark circles around her eyes start to show. Annnd...! I named Ro after Rosemary, like the way it's been used in the movie! I've always liked that nickname.

muse: stacey bendet
Stacey Bendet of Alice & Olivia. Um, have you seen her Instagram? I totally admire her because she is the cutest most colorful chicest style icon, & the most graceful yogi I ever did see. I've always loved her line of precious bags and clothes. It's so fun and colorful! I love girls who really dress out of their comfort zone because that's also when they're being their true selves. The colors you choose to wear definitely have an influence on your energy. So I imagine she's always positively vibrant and radiant. She is a great example of creative expression in her everyday wardrobe look. I also love her success story as well, and the way she was discovered on the streets of New York. It's pretty amazing & inspiring. Not to mention, this girl can bend! I love that she does yoga! Love this girl..

Musing Mugs: Sophia Amoruso
I decided to take my muse to my mug.
Every morning I like to start my day having Yogi Tea with lemon before getting into my work. While I drink I like reading their well-wished messages attached to the opposite end of the teabag. There are some I like, and others that don't make sense to me. But overall, it's a fun read. Last week I realized how much I hate the mugs I use to drink my tea in. And I don't even have a favorite.. and everyone has a favorite mug! So, funny timing, Society6 was just promoting mugs for artists to place their artwork on. It was perfect! I decided to come up with my own.
I wanted my mug to inspire me every day. So I decided to use my favorite muse, Sophia Amoruso {once again}, because her success story always, ALWAYS amazes me. Then I adopted Yogi Tea's message concept and used an affirmation of my own. Then voila! Perfection...! i have created my own favorite mug!
...and you can have one of your own too! The print & mug are available for purchase here! I will create more, so stay tuned!

Muse: Frida Kahlo
I pretty much don't have to explain myself about this woman. But, as beautiful and inspiring as she was, I also like to highlight the fashion of her time. It's classic. I only wish everyone dressed as colorful as she did these days. I mean, seriously, for the longest time, everyone is all about blacks, grays, and dark blues. Everyone is so afraid of mixing colorful colors! Okay, I'm guilty of it too, black makes you feel safe and way more confident than all the other colors. For most people, it slims you down and makes you look good no matter what. Black makes me look longer. Anyways other than black, my other favorite colors to wear that flatter me the most are shades of red and purple. I'm looking to add more pop to my wardrobe. I'm workin on it! You can purchase my print on my Etsy shop!
