I am excited to share with everyone one of my past adventures working as a trend researcher and an assistant designer in LA. This was probably the most fun, creative, and exciting job I’ve had in my career and I’m hoping to jump back into it again and really take off with it! The best part was that everything was paid for and I got to stay in a 5-Star hotel in the city of Shibuya, the shopping capital of Tokyo, where I got to see and take pictures of people around the city! The people shots I wanted to show out of the myriad of photos I took are ones that specifically relate to today’s trends: neons, summer whites, color blocking, florals, dip-dye, and a few new ones I’ve discovered. Now note that when I traveled to Tokyo, this was back in 2009; however no one would be able to guess that because Japanese street fashion is timeless.
Japanese street fashion I believe, has always been advanced in their looks, style, and design as they have always taken that “extra step” without any hesitation or worry about what other people may think. This is why they are so widely known around the world for their unique and cutting-edge style. There are NO rules, just their own creative imagination and the freedom to express themselves individually in what they wear on a daily basis -and that is what I love about the Japanese. I hope you enjoy my street shots of Tokyo fashion below! It will serve as an inspiration and eye candy as well
A cute little vending machine that made my mouth water~! I wanted ALL the drinks inside!
Me from my hotel room with a view of the city of Shibuya <3 I was only twenty-one years old and it was such a dream come true to work and visit one of the major cities of fashion… and to be able to check this off on my “To-do List Before I Die” list.
On the way the PARCO mall. A massive mall filled with designer brands from all over the world that me and my co-workers shopped in. It was heaven!
